November: A new month, a new yoga focus

This month is all about the shoulders

I’m heading for sunnier climates for a week’s holiday to use my strong core strength for surfing! I’m pretty sure my arms and shoulders will be strong when I get back as I’m sure they’ll be more paddling out than catching a wave in! So November is going to bring us lots of yoga classes to explore the shoulder joints.

Last month, we explored the hips with plenty of internal and external rotation within our yoga classes as well as trying to build strength. We learnt a lot about strengthening whilst stretching to deepen the stretch. All this strength ultimately helps to keep our hips joints strong. The shoulders are very similar in terms of exploring strength to encourage stability which is helpful for arm balances. The shoulders can affect our upper back and chest too and can make for a more complicated joint than the hips.

What we’re building, together, in November:

Live Online Yoga Workshop: The complicated shoulder joint

Monday 16th November, 6pm (90 mins)

Show up for your usual Monday 6pm live online yoga class for a slightly longer session and a chance to pick up some new tips and techniques to work on over the coming weeks. There’ll be a Q&A at the end too. It will be recorded for the Video Library if you miss it or want to revisit it.

Opportunities to grow and connect

5 minute live Q&As, after 60 minute classes

Just stay online after class and ask a question

It’s a chance to go over something specific from the yoga class or just ask a question about something you’re working on/trying to achieve. Drop me a message beforehand or give a shoutout on the WhatsApp group chat.

Supporting your nervous system

Yin Yoga sessions

Thursday 5th and 19th November, 6pm 90 min Yin Yoga

As the colder, darker nights draw in, they’ll be two live online Yin Yoga sessions this month. It’s so important nowadays to schedule in time for recovery activities. These sessions are always popular and now you can expect them a little more regularly. An opportunity to relax at home, breathe deep, calm the body and drop into that parasympathetic side of your nervous system.

Our regular weekday morning

15–30 minute strength and yoga sessions

We’ve had some new people joining too and I hope you’re feeling these benefits. As we do shorter classes first thing, aim to fit in at least 2-3 morning classes a week to really feel the benefits.

And if you’re reading this from outside the Membership and this sounds like the kind of rhythm and accountability you need, you’re more than welcome to join us, anytime.
